A: 4G is not going anywhere anytime soon, 3G started in 2002 and is still active today, 4G is currently planned to be used for at least another decade, sources indicate that 4G will be serviced through 2030.
A: While no published date has been announced by card brands, the networks strongly encourage that operators complete their device upgrades to 4G LTE, as well as EMV enabled by August 2022.
A: In the small ticket market, specifically vending, EMV Chip will not be a required method of payment, as contactless becomes the payment method many consumers globally are now choosing. EMV contactless “tap” should be all you need to support the card brands and your consumers’ move to EMV.
A: Many 4G LTE ePort devices received an “over the air” upgrade to accept EMV tap in February/March 2020. Customers can easily view their 2G/3G devices in the field, by logging into USA Live or Seed and running a “Device Details Report”. This report will show what devices are 2G/3G and which ones are connected to an EMV enabled card reader.

1. Install the ePort on the machine and power it on.
2. The device should start to report and send a DEX file to the server.
3. Then unlink the Seed device from the Asset in Seed web.
4. Once the ePort device reports in, go into the Edit Machine Settings page, select USAT as the “Remote Telemetry Provide”; and then find the Telemetry ID for the ePort device, select it, and save the changes.
5. The next time the device sends a DEX file, it will populate the planogram with any new sales data.
NOTE: If you cannot find the device inside of Seed, what most likely has happened is your “auto create” is still active. Please contact App Support at Appsupport@usatech.com, or call 800-227-3657, or reach out to your CSM for assistance in turning off “auto create”.
