A: The PENDING charge is because you or a family member used a DEBIT or CREDIT card for a recent transaction. BANK's use an "estimated" amount as a HOLD or Pending against your account balance until the ACTUAL sale amount is posted to your account.

Q: When will the PENDING or HOLD amount disappear?
A: It can take your BANK up to 24 - 72 hrs to clear the PENDING or HOLD amount.

Q: I have an OVERCHARGE amount on my bank statement - WHY?
A: The OVERCHARGE amount is also called a PENDING or a HOLD amount.

A: Send us the business name you would like to identify by filling out and submitting this form and we will verify the charge.

Q: How do I get a REFUND for an item or service that I did not receive?

Q: What is a credit card authorization?
A: A credit card authorization is used to verify if the cardholder has available funds to make a purchase at a vending machine, a retailer or for an online ecommerce transaction.

Q: Do I need a receipt?
A: No. You do not need a receipt when making a vending machine purchase. However the purchase amount and vending name will appear on your bank statement and serves as confirmation of your purchase.

Q: What card payment types do the vending machines accept?
A: The ePort point of sale terminals supports most credit cards and non-pin debit transactions.

Q: What is a chargeback?
A: Chargebacks are typically initiated or disputed by the cardholder for several reasons, but the most common reasons are as follows:

Q: What is fraudulent transactions?
A: Fraudulent transactions are when a credit card is used without the consent or proper authorization of the cardholder or in some cases, a merchant is responsible for charges fraudulently imposed on a customer. Mostly, fraudulent card transactions originate with criminals who gain access to secure payment card data and set up schemes to exploit cardholder information.

 

Security FAQs

Q: Is paying with a Credit Card on a Vending Machine safe and secure?
A: Yes. Like all USA Technologies products, ePorts go through third-party testing and validation. The ePort Connect network where the ePort communicates is validated against the PCI SSC's (PCI Security Standards Council) strict regulations. The PCI Security Standards Council sets the standards that payment system vendors must follow when developing hardware and software. The ePort Connect network PCI DSS approved and is recertified annually.

Q: How does it work?
A: The unattended ePort cashless point of sale terminal located on vending machines and its software application securely handles the communication between our secure payment gateway - called ePort Connect, and the vending machine purchase.

Q: What is point-to-point encryption, and why is it important?
A: Security is paramount at USA Technologies. USAT uses point-to-point encryption to protect your card information when you swipe your card at the vending machine. The card data is protected from the point of purchase all the way to the credit card processing company. This prevents sensitive card data from being stored at the vending machine or being intercepted in-transit.

Q: Is USA Technologies (USAT) PCI-DSS compliant?
A: Yes. USA Technologies is annually certified by Trustwave and Visa for PCI compliance. USAT is PCI-DSS - Level 1 - Service Provider certified.
